Cultural Fest: Panacea 2024 at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre | SRMIST
SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre successfully organized its highly anticipated dual events – Hygiea and Panacea – from 17th to 21st of September 2024. The week-long extravaganza brought together students from various medical institutions nationwide, who showcased their talents in a vibrant mix of cultural and sporting events.
Panacea, the cultural fest, commenced on 19th September 2024 at 10 AM, involving students from departments like MBBS, Allied Health Sciences, Anesthesia, Neurology, and more. The event was flagged off in the presence of Dr. Lt Col A. Ravikumar, Advisor (MHS); Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, Pro Vice-Chancellor in charge and Dean (Medical); Dr. Sundaram, Advisor Medical and Health Sciences; Dr. Venkatraman, Medical Superintendent; Dr. K. V. Leela, Associate Dean (UG Studies); Dr. J. S. Kumar, Associate Dean (PG Academics); Dr. M. Logaraj, Associate Dean (Quality Assurance); Dr. V. Sathyanarayanan, Associate Dean (Student Affairs); Dr. Muthu and Dr. Kaveri, Student Council Advisors. The event featured performances ranging from classical dance to contemporary art forms. Numerous events were held, and the top three places were awarded to the winners.
“The real strength of MHS was displayed here. Medical students always work hard, but this is their time to take a break and enjoy themselves. Congratulations to the team for organizing such a wonderful event,” said Dr. Lt. Col. Dr. Ravikumar, Advisor (MHS), SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre.
In his inaugural speech, Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, Pro Vice-Chancellor in-charge (MHS )and Dean (Medical), conveyed that medical students have many hidden talents, from academic writers to those contributing to various academic activities. Despite their busy schedules, they look forward to these events ‘Hygiea and Panacea’ — to enjoy themselves with a spirit of camaraderie.
The entire event was initiated and executed by Mr. K. V. K. Hariharan, Student Council President, along with his student council members, with the support and guidance from the management. This shows the institution’s commitment to encouraging students’ ideas and mold them stronger in the future.
Panacea 2024 reached a star-studded high when Mr. Harish Kalyan and his team from their latest movie – Lubber Pandhu (லப்பர் பந்து) along with Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, Pro Vice-Chancellor in-charge (MHS) and Dean (Medical), graced the occasion. Adding to the excitement, the event celebrated 10 years of the talented Ms. Mrunal Thakur. Her presence electrified the auditorium, and her inspiring words to “Never Give Up” resonated with the younger audience, adding elegance to the evening. Also, she added that her life would be zero without physiotherapists which encouraged the students to move forward carrying perseverance and determination within them.
The week continued with soulful musical performances, sports competitions like cricket, basketball, and chess, along with modern group performances. The event reminded students of the importance of balancing studies and personal interests.
The intercollegiate competition concluded with Kilpauk Medical College emerging as the overall winner of Hygiea, while SRM’s Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) students won the overall championship at the Panacea cultural fest.
