SRMIST and Torch Trust Sponsor Medical Camp at Gerugambakkam
The medical camp was conducted on 28th September 2024 at Revival Church, Gerugambakkam, by the Department of Community Medicine, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre in collaboration with the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) and Torch Trust, where a very good turnout of patients was recorded. Thus, the aim was to provide basic primary care for the participants in the common parts, focusing on necessary healthcare for all the attendees.
The camp saw active involvement from multiple departments, including:
– Community Medicine
– General Surgery
– Obstetrics & Gynaecology (OBG)
– Audiology
– Dermatology
Over all, the camp made 74 outpatient departments or OPDs which offered important consultations. Among these, 16 cases were recommended for further evaluation and treatment at SRM Medical College Hospital and research Centre with yellow cards, given to patients that should get priority service.
A special mention to Mr. B. Franchis, the pastor of Revival Church, who came personally to the camp to support the cause and recognize the efforts that are being taken for the betterment of community health.
This medical camp serves to show that after years of practice, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre remains committed to the noble duty of spreading, providing, and advocating universal healthcare even beyond hospital settings, especially in communities of Gerugambakkam and nearby areas.
