SRMIST and DGSEA Organise Multispecialty Medical Camp at Vilvarayanallur
The Department of Community Medicine at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, in collaboration with DGSEA (a non-governmental organisation), organised a free medical camp in the rural village of Vilvarayanallur on 5th August 2025.
A total of 222 outpatients were seen during the camp, and 72 individuals were referred for further evaluation and specialised care at SRM Medical College Hospital. The initiative aimed to extend accessible healthcare services to underserved communities and raise awareness on general health and preventive care.
Several departments from SRMIST volunteered their time and expertise, including:
- Community Medicine
- Orthopaedics
- Dermatology
- Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBG)
- Audiology
- Optometry
- Ophthalmology
- Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT)
- General Surgery
Medical professionals and student volunteers from each department worked together to provide comprehensive consultations, basic investigations, referrals, and patient education. The camp served as an important platform to identify cases requiring follow-up, while also fostering community trust in institutional healthcare.
This outreach effort reflects SRMIST’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and its mission to bridge gaps in rural healthcare access through collaboration and service.
