CME on Developmental Pathways and Role of Long-Acting Medications Held at SRMMCHRC

The SRM Centre for Clinical Trials and Research (CCTR), in collaboration with the SRM Centre for Clinical Pharmacology (CCP), organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on Developmental Pathways and Role of Long-Acting Medications on 14 August 2025 at Lecture Hall II, SRM Medical College Building.

The session opened with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Melvin George, Head, SRM CCTR and CCP, who stressed the importance of translational research and the potential of long-acting formulations in enhancing patient outcomes.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Rajiv Janarthanan, Dean – Medical Research, SRM MCH & RC, reaffirmed SRM’s commitment to advancing clinical research and building global collaborations in innovative therapeutic areas.

A special address was delivered by Dr. N. Kumarasamy, Chief & Director, VHS Infectious Diseases Medical Centre and Director of CART Clinical Research Site. He shared key insights on the clinical application and future prospects of long-acting medications in managing infectious diseases.

The keynote lecture was presented by Dr. Rodney J.Y. Ho, Professor of Pharmaceutics and Bioengineering, University of Washington. His talk provided participants with a comprehensive overview of developmental pathways and the translational journey of long-acting therapeutics.

The program concluded with an engaging Q&A session, followed by the vote of thanks. The CME offered valuable scientific perspectives and fostered academic dialogue on the evolving role of long-acting medications in clinical practice.
