SRMMCHRC Sponsors Medical Camp at Karanipudhuchery

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) sponsored a medical camp at Karanipudhuchery, organised by the Department of Community Medicine, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (SRMMCHRC). The initiative aimed to extend quality healthcare to underserved communities while creating awareness about preventive and curative care.

Specialists from multiple disciplines – General Surgery, ENT, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Audiology, and Community Medicine – volunteered their time and expertise. Their combined effort ensured that people from the local community could access consultations and essential medical guidance without financial burden.

The camp was honoured by the presence of Dr. R. Jamuna Rani, Professor and Head of Pharmacology, SRMMCHRC. Her encouragement and support gave added momentum to the initiative, motivating the teams and reassuring the patients who attended.

A total of 74 outpatients benefitted from the camp, of which 34 were identified as requiring further treatment. These patients have been referred to SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, where they will continue to receive treatment free of cost, ensuring long-term support for their health needs.

The success of the camp reflects SRMIST’s commitment to community service and healthcare outreach, bridging the gap between medical expertise and rural accessibility.
