SRM Medical College Conducts BOSS 2026 CME and Workshop on Paediatric Lower Limb Disorders
Kattankulathur, 25 August 2026: The Department of Orthopaedics, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, successfully organised BOSS 2026 – Basic Orthopaedic Surgical Skills Fellowship and Training for All, featuring a CME and workshop on Paediatric Lower Limb Disorders, on 25 August 2026 at the Ortho Seminar Hall, SRM Medical College and Hospital.
The programme was conducted under the aegis of the Tamil Nadu Orthopaedic Association (TNOA) and the Chengalpattu Orthopaedic Society, with the objective of enhancing clinical knowledge and surgical skills in the management of common paediatric orthopaedic conditions.
The CME featured seven expert lectures covering a wide range of topics, including gait analysis in cerebral palsy, paediatric hip examination, management of slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE), surgical containment of the hip in Perthes disease, recurrent and relapsed CTEV, guided growth in knee deformities, and management and surgical decision-making in developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).
The sessions were delivered by eminent faculty, including Dr. Gopinath Menon, Dr. R. Selvaraj, Prof. Thomas Palocaren, Prof. Pasupathy, Dr. Kailash Sarathy, Dr. Aravinth T and Dr. Vishnu Senthil, providing participants with valuable insights into contemporary approaches and management principles in paediatric orthopaedics.
A key highlight of the programme was the hands-on workshop on DDH and Guided Growth, which included practical sessions on VDRO and 8-plate fixation. The workshop provided participants with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of surgical techniques and decision-making in paediatric lower limb disorders.
The inaugural programme included the welcome address by Dr. B. Vijay Anand, inaugural address by Dr. R. Jayanthi, and special address by Dr. R. Venkataraman, followed by the felicitation of the speakers. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Gowthaman N, HOD, Department of Orthopaedics.
With 79 participants registering for the programme, the CME and workshop served as an effective platform for knowledge exchange, professional development and skill enhancement among medical professionals. The initiative reaffirmed the Department of Orthopaedics’ commitment to advancing clinical education and promoting excellence in paediatric orthopaedic care.
