SRM School of Allied Health Sciences Conducts Two-Day Universal Human Values Programme for First-Year Students
The SRM School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS), SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), successfully conducted a two-day Value Education Programme on Universal Human Values (UHV) for first-semester Undergraduate and Postgraduate students on August 27 and 28, 2026, at the Hippocrates Auditorium, SRM Medical College.
Organised by the UHV Committee, SRM SAHS, the programme aimed to foster self-awareness, responsible living, harmonious relationships and a holistic perspective among students. The two-day programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 433 first-semester Undergraduate students and 152 Postgraduate students representing over 18 departments of the School of Allied Health Sciences.
The programme provided students with an opportunity to reflect on their aspirations, relationships, responsibilities and their role in society and nature. Through interactive sessions and self-reflective discussions, participants were encouraged to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and adopt a more responsible and harmonious approach to life.
The programme commenced with a pre-test and student introduction, followed by the inaugural session. Dr. V. Sathyanarayanan, University Co-Coordinator and Chairperson, UHV Committee, SRMIST, delivered the welcome address. Dr. D. Jagadeswaran, Dean, School of Allied Health Sciences, SRMIST, delivered the Presidential Address.
The inaugural session was graced by the presence of Dr. P. Supraja, University Co-ordinator, Value Education Cell, SRMIST, and Dr. G. Mirunalini, Co-ordinator, UHV Committee, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre. Dr. Praveena J, Co-ordinator, UHV Committee, SRM SAHS, proposed the vote of thanks.
The sessions were facilitated by an experienced team of resource persons comprising Dr. V. Sathyanarayanan, Dr. Supraja P, Dr. Muthu Bharathi R, Dr. Bhavsar Nikhil Rajendra, Dr. Praveena J, Dr. Saravana Ganesh and Dr. Mirunalini G.
Designed around the Universal Human Values framework, the programme explored key themes including a holistic perspective, understanding the individual and family, self-reflection, confidence and commitment. The sessions encouraged students to move beyond academic learning and develop an understanding of responsible and harmonious living.
The programme reflected SRMIST’s continued commitment to holistic education and the development of healthcare professionals who are not only academically and professionally competent but also self-aware, responsible and guided by strong human values.
