The SRM Centre for Clinical Trials and Research (CCTR), in collaboration with the SRM Centre for Clinical Pharmacology (CCP), organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on 14th August 2025 at the SRM Medical College Building. The session focused on Developmental Pathways and the Role of Long-Acting Medications, bringing together experts in clinical research, pharmacology, and translational medicine.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Melvin George, Head of CCTR and CCP, who underscored the importance of translational research and the potential of long-acting formulations in improving patient outcomes.
The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Rajiv Janarthanan, Dean – Medical Research, SRMMCHRC, highlighting SRM’s commitment to advancing clinical research and fostering international collaborations in therapeutic innovation.
A special address by Dr. N. Kumarasamy, Chief & Director, VHS Infectious Diseases Medical Centre and Director of CART Clinical Research Site, offered practical insights into the use of long-acting medications in infectious diseases and their future scope in clinical practice.
The keynote lecture was presented by Dr. Rodney J.Y. Ho, Professor of Pharmaceutics and Bioengineering, University of Washington. His session shed light on drug development pathways and the translational journey of long-acting therapeutics, giving participants a global perspective on this rapidly advancing field.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session and a vote of thanks, reinforcing the spirit of academic dialogue and collaboration.
This CME served as an important platform for knowledge exchange, deepening scientific understanding and highlighting the evolving role of long-acting medications in modern clinical practice.
