About Us

  • SRM Medical College and Research Centre was established in the year 2005.
  • This is a tertiary eye care center catering to the population in and around Potheri for a radius of 25 km.
  • SRM Medical College Provides holistic eye care to the population at large free of cost.
  • The eye bank was established in the year 2012 after getting the necessary approval and license. This eye bank essentially covers areas in Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram districts.
  • The SRM Eye Bank [SRMEB] is the provider of sight Donor corneas which are taken as and when the call comes right from the date of the establishment of the eye bank in 2012.SRM Eye Bank has contributed significantly to the effective networking and proliferation of community eye-banking programs.

Academics

  • SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Department of Ophthalmology, is a Centre for developing resources for the Prevention of blindness and providing Training for eye care services.
  • The Aim is to provide the highest quality of training and education through the committed faculty.

Infrastructure

  • The eye bank is located 3rd floor G-3/14 on level 5 of the SRM MCH&RC.
  • The eye bank laboratory has sufficient space (600 sqft) for carrying out its operations.
  • The eye bank has a reception room and 4 eye bank laboratories, each separated from the other by a self-closing door
  • It consists of 3 laboratories, each separated from the other by a door. All laboratories are fitted with UV lamps.
