Department of Pathology

About Us

  • The Department of Pathology was started as a part of the SRM Medical College and Hospital in the year 2005.
  • Pathology is one of the most important bridging disciplines between basic medical sciences and clinical medicine where there is an in-depth study of the origin of disease, disease progression, and correlation with clinical manifestations.
  • Pathology plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and management of various disease conditions including cancers through macroscopic (gross) and microscopic examination, various laboratory parameters, and ancillary testing methods.
  • The Department of Pathology has a team of well-experienced faculty members to teach Undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (M.D. Pathology) students and has excellent infrastructure within the college and in the diagnostic sections of the Central laboratory.
  • A museum with nearly 800 mounted specimens and Multi-head (Decahead, Pentahead) microscopes are available in the department.
