Introduction:

Dr. G. Selvarajan is a distinguished medical professional and academician, currently serving as the Head of the Department. With extensive experience in the field of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), he has made significant contributions to patient care, research, and medical education.

Clinical Expertise:

  • Completed 35 years of service in Government Hospital & various medical college, hospitals.
  • Having Rich clinical skill and knowledge.
  • Can approach each patient with Sympathy & Empathy.
  • Can build a good doctor patient relationship.
  • Can tackle all emergencies in ENT, Head and Neck including intubation & Resuscitation.
  • Has done almost all Surgeries in ENT in 35 years including Head & Neck surgeries like Thyroidectomy, Maxillectomy & Laryngectomy, Skull base surgery, Neck dissection etc.
  • Well versed with head and Neck Cancer screening and Diagnosis of Head and Neck malignancies.
  • Vast experience with endoscopic procedures like bronchoscopy, Oesophagoscopy, Nasopharyngoscopy.
  • Special Interest in Otology.
  • Special Interest in Cochlear Implant procedures.
  • Started Cochlear Implant program in Government Vellore Medical College.

Teaching:

Dr. Selvarajan is deeply committed to medical education, mentoring both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students. He plays a crucial role in curriculum development and training programs, ensuring that students gain a strong foundation in ENT and related disciplines.

  • Undergraduate Teaching: Engages in interactive lectures, hands-on clinical training, and bedside teaching to help students develop a thorough understanding of ENT disorders and their management.
  • Postgraduate Training: Guides PG students in advanced clinical skills, surgical techniques, and research methodologies, preparing them for specialized roles in the field.
  • Actively participates in national and international conferences, presenting research findings and staying updated with the latest advancements in ENT.
  • Encourages student involvement in research and evidence-based practice to foster innovation in otolaryngology.
  • Very Good Teacher having teaching experience more than 30 years including Under Graduate & Post Graduate teaching.
  • Can motivate students, cultivate and teach good values and morals.
  • Trained more than 20 batch of UG & PG students.
  • Inspired of his teaching many of his students opted ENT and have become Professors and Consultants in the field of ENT.

Administration:

  • Worked as Dean, Government Vellore Medical College.
  • Served as Additional DME/Secretary, Selection Committee which is a state level responsible post for more than 5 years which deals with all Selection and Admission process of MBBS/BDS. Post-Graduation Courses, Super Specialty Cources and all Paramedical Courses in Tamil Nadu from 2016 to 2021.
  • State Nodal officer for NPPD (National Program for Prevention of Deafness).
  • Conducted many surgical training programs for young ENT Doctors to do surgeries like Stapedectomy, Tympanoplasty, Mastoidectomy, ect.,
  • Hony. Secretary, Association of Otololaryngology of India, Tamil nadu state for 10 years from 2013 to 2023.
  • Conducted state level ENT confereences 10 times from 2013 to 2023.
  • Life Member & Former Secretary, (AOI) – Association of Otolaryngologists of India, Tamil Nadu state for 10 years from 2013 to 2023.
  • State Nodal Officer – National Program for Prevention and control of Deafness (NPPCD) from 2011 to 2015.
