Introduction:
Dr. Jaya Lakshmi, S.S., Assistant Professor of Microbiology, is a distinguished microbiologist with 6 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. She has an extensive academic background, having earned a MD in microbiology from CMC (Christian Medical College), Vellore. She also completed a course in Hospital Infection prevention and control.Their research interests include core areas such as clinical microbiology, antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, hospital infection control, mycology, virology, and parasitology. With a strong commitment to innovation, Dr. Jaya Lakshmi, S.S., has contributed to 13 publications in international and national journals with Scopus and Web of Science indexing and published in one book chapter. She is an authorized signatory in a laboratory that has received NABL accreditation. Her research focuses on molecular diagnosis of microbial pathogens and their resistance mechanisms. Their work has led to significant contributions, including the SERI Grant 2023 for molecular detection and prevalence of human bocavirus in our hospital. She holds a one patent on an IOT-based intelligent dustbin for waste segregation and dispensing based on lasso regression. A dedicated educator is committed to fostering a dynamic learning environment, mentoring students, and inspiring the next generation of scientists.
