Breast Cancer Awareness Camp 2024: A Step Towards Early Detection and Care
The Department of General Surgery at SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre (SRMMCHRC) organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Camp under the theme “No one should face breast cancer alone” (W.H.O., 2024). This initiative aimed to empower women with knowledge about breast cancer, emphasizing the importance of early detection and timely treatment.
Awareness Camps Conducted:
- 08/10/2024: Kolathur, Singaperumal Kovil
- 09/10/2024: Kayarambedu, Chengalpattu District
Led by Dr. K. Thinagaran, Head of the Department of General Surgery, a dedicated team of doctors reached out to more than 120 women across these locations. The team conducted awareness sessions that provided crucial insights into breast cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment options. Informative pamphlets were distributed to the attendees, ensuring the message reached beyond those present.
The sessions motivated women to prioritize their health and seek necessary consultations at SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre.
This campaign reflects SRMMCHRC’s commitment to community health and its proactive approach in creating awareness about breast cancer. By educating communities and encouraging early intervention, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre continues to make strides in the fight against cancer.
