CAST 2026: Advancing Surgical Excellence at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre
The Department of Orthopaedics, in collaboration with the Department of Anatomy at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, successfully organised CAST (Cadaveric Skill Training) under the aegis of the Tamil Nadu Orthopaedic Association. This pioneering initiative marks a first-of-its-kind program in the region, designed to strengthen surgical expertise through hands-on cadaveric training.
The event was graced by Dr. N. Manikandan, President of the Tamil Nadu Orthopaedic Association, whose presence added significance to the occasion. A total of 45 postgraduates and young surgeons actively participated in the workshop.
Participants received intensive, practical training in upper limb surgical approaches, guided by a distinguished panel comprising five external faculty members from premier institutions, along with five experienced internal faculty members. The structured sessions provided an immersive learning experience, bridging theoretical knowledge with real-time surgical application.
This initiative reflects the institution’s continued commitment to advancing surgical education and enhancing clinical skills among emerging orthopaedic professionals. Special appreciation is extended to the management and Dr. Sundarapandian, Head of the Department of Anatomy, for their valuable support in organising the program.
The workshop received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, reinforcing its success and highlighting its impact in setting new benchmarks for surgical training in the region.
