Faculty Achievement: SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre Shines at ASCoN 2024

Dr. R. Karthikeyan, Associate Professor, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (SRMMCHRC) represented SRM at the Asian Spinal Cord Network (ASCoN) Conference 2024 held in Kathmandu, Nepal, on 24th November 2024.

Dr. R. Karthikeyan had the honour of chairing a distinguished session on the topic, “Continuum of Spinal Injury Care in Asian Countries,” alongside globally renowned experts:

● Dr. James Middleton (Australia), President-Elect of the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS)
● Prof. Stefano Negrini (Italy), Director of Cochrane Rehabilitation and Professor at the University of Milan
● Prof. Carlotte Kiekens (Belgium), Co-Director of Cochrane Rehabilitation

The session focused on the impactful work conducted by Cochrane Rehabilitation, addressing critical issues in spinal injury care and rehabilitation across Asia. Discussions also explored potential collaborative initiatives between Cochrane Rehabilitation and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) at SRMMCHRC. These collaborations aim to enhance Rehabilitation Medicine research in India and strengthen its global contributions.

This achievement highlights SRMMCHRC’s commitment to advancing medical research and promoting excellence in patient care through active engagement in international platforms.
