Helping Hands, Healthier Lives: Health Camp
As a part of the enhancement of community healthcare services by the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) and MAC-UHS Nursing College, along with the support of the Department of Community Medicine of SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, a medical camp was conducted in Kottivakkam Community Hall. This camp was a result of efforts to reflect on the health needs of the people in society and how they could be helped out through the colleges that are involved in the nursing training courses.
The camp gathered a dedicated care team consisting of departments such as,
âž” General Surgery
âž” Community Medicine
âž” OBG (Obstetrics and Gynaecology)
âž” Psychiatry
âž” Audiology
âž” Dermatology
The medical camp was a success considering that a total of 106 outpatients were treated during the event.
In the total cases that were managed, 44 of them were advised to seek further treatment at the SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre to make sure that the patient did not lack attention. Also, the yellow card was provided to those who needed to be monitored, requiring further medical attention.
This initiative also shows that SRMIST is serious about the provision of quality healthcare to the public, hence upholding its position as an institution that provides education in the field of medicine and public health.
