I MBBS Students Host Dynamic CME on Life-Saving Skills and First Aid

The Ist MBBS batch of 2025–26 at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre organised a vibrant and educational Simulation-Based Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on Life-Saving Skills and First Aid. The event combined hands-on learning with creativity, highlighting the importance of timely response in medical emergencies on October 14,2025.

The CME was inaugurated by Dr. Nithin M. Nagarkar, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean, who delivered an inspiring address on the critical importance of prompt CPR in saving lives. He also led the students in taking the CPR Pledge, reaffirming their dedication to emergency care and patient safety.

Dr. Rachula Daniel, Head of the SRM Stratus Centre for Medical Simulation, delivered the welcome address, emphasising the role of simulation in developing confidence and competence among young medical students.

Student-Led Simulations and Presentations

The entire CME was conceptualised and executed by the I MBBS students, who showcased their learning through:

~ Simulation demonstrations on CPR using advanced simulators
~ Skits depicting real-life emergency scenarios such as Basic Life Support, Anaphylaxis, Stroke, Choking, and Trauma
~ JAM (Just A Minute) talks on topics like World Heart Day, Code Blue, High-Quality CPR, the Golden Hour, and the CodePro app
~ Poster presentations on BLS and First Aid, judged by faculty members, with winners receiving certificates of merit from Dr. Nithin M. Nagarkar
~ An interactive Quiz session that encouraged active participation and knowledge sharing among students

Adding a creative touch to the event, students presented a vibrant cultural segment that featured:

~ Group songs celebrating teamwork and compassion
~ Energetic dance performances
~ Instrumental recitals on the violin, veena, and keyboard
~ Recognition and Closing

Certificates of appreciation were awarded to all students who actively contributed to the event.

The program concluded with a powerful reminder delivered by the organising committee timely CPR can make the difference between life and death.

The CME on Life-Saving Skills and First Aid not only strengthened the students’ clinical readiness but also instilled in them a deep sense of responsibility toward saving lives through swift and informed action.
