Microbiology and Microbiome (MIMIC 2023)

Microbiology and Microbiome (MIMIC 2023), held at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Kattankulathur, from September 26th to 27th, 2023, was a resounding success. Dr. Surendran Rajagopal, Director of MIOT Hepato-Pancreatic-Biliary Unit for Surgery and Transplantation, inaugurated the event as the chief guest. The release of the conference souvenir symbolised the knowledge-sharing spirit that permeated MIMIC 2023.

Organised under the auspices of the Hospital Infection Society of India (HISI), Chennai. Chapter MIMIC 2023 attracted over 150 participants from around the world. This two-day conference featured renowned speakers, including Dr. Rama Chaudhary (AIIMS Delhi), Dr. Usha Sriram (Founder, DIWAS), and Dr. Shiran Shetty (KMC Manipal). International perspectives were enriched by speakers like Dr. Fabian Davamani Amalraj (Malaysia) and Dr. Divyaa Elangovan (Kuwait).

The heart of MIMIC 2023 was its presentations, with 40 oral and 41 poster presentations that showcased cutting-edge research. Notably, undergraduate MBBS students made significant contributions, emphasising the importance of fostering young talent. Beyond academia, MIMIC 2023 promoted creative expression through an undergraduate debate and skit on infection prevention and control, chaired by Dr. Suba P, the HISI-Chennai Chapter Joint Secretary.

With 4 TNMC credit hours, MIMIC 2023 played a pivotal role in advancing the professional growth of healthcare practitioners. In conclusion, MIMIC 2023 was a celebration of knowledge, fostering collaboration, and a testament to the commitment of the microbiology community to advancing science and healthcare.
