Nutrition Awareness Outreach Programme Conducted at Kumuzhi Village

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organized a one-day Nutrition Awareness Outreach Programme on 9 September 2026 at Kumuzhi Village, Chengalpattu District, as part of the National Nutrition Month Celebration 2026.

The programme was conducted at the Anganwadi Centre, Government Health and Wellness Centre, and Government Residential School in Kumuzhi Village. It aimed to assess the nutritional status of school children and community members while promoting awareness of healthy eating habits, balanced nutrition, and the importance of proper dietary practices.

Through nutrition education and community engagement activities, the initiative sought to encourage informed food choices and foster healthier lifestyles among children and the local community. The outreach programme reflected the department’s commitment to public health, nutrition education, and community welfare through collaborative initiatives with NSS.

The programme reinforced the importance of nutrition awareness in improving community health and supporting the well-being of children and families.
