RCI Approved CRE Workshop at SRMMCH&RC

The Department of Clinical Psychology at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre organized a two-day RCI-approved CRE workshop on ‘Clinical Applications of Cognitive Retraining’ on December 1st and 2nd, 2023.

The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Nitin Nagarkar, Dean (Medical), who addressed the audience.

Resource persons for the workshop included Dr. Dhayna Chandran, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Clinical Psychology, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi; Mr. Srinivasan, Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, Apollo Hospital; Ms. Vandhana S, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, V COPE Clinic, Chennai; and Dr. Bhasi Sukumaran, Professor and Head, Department of Clinical Psychology, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research.

The first day covered introductory topics such as Introduction to Cognitive Retraining, Approaches and Models of Cognitive Retraining, CRT for Attention, CRT for Memory, CRT for Higher Cognitive Functions, and CRT for Special Populations.

The second day delved deeper into topics such as CRT for Head Injury, CRT for Schizophrenia, CRT for Obesity, CRT for Depression, CRT for ADHD/ASD, and CRT for Aphasia.

A total of 107 participants registered, including around 30 RCI registered professionals from four different states.

The program concluded with a valedictory function where UG and PG students of the Department of Clinical Psychology showcased various cultural activities, including dances and songs.
