SRM Institute of Science and Technology celebrated the 8th World Bioethics Day

SRM Institute of Science and Technology celebrated the 8th World Bioethics Day on October 19, 2023.

SRMIST collaborated with the International Chair in Bioethics with the theme “Protecting Future Generations,” inspired by Article 16 of UNESCO’s Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights.
Dr. Lt Col A. Ravikumar, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Medical and Health Sciences, SRMIST, and Bioethics Unit of SRMIST; Dr. Derek D. Souza, Head of Training Indian Program, International Chair; Dr. Kalpana Balakrishnan, Dean, Research at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education; Dr. Kalpana Gowrishankar, a Senior Consultant in the Department of Genetics at Apollo Hospital, Chennai; Dr. Padma Venkat, Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Technology at UPES, Dehradun; Dr. Supraja P from the UHV Cell at SRMIST graced the event with their speeches.
Engaging panel discussion on “Adolescent Issues” with esteemed panelists and students’ active involvement.

Dr. R. Jamuna Rani, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology, received an award for her unwavering commitment to ethical standards and exemplary contributions to the Institutional Ethics Committee.

A myriad of events and international and intra-university competitions, with 1201 registrations, showcased students’ talents and passion for bioethics.
