SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre Inaugurates MD/MS 2025–26 Batch with Focus on Ethics, Empathy, and Excellence

SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre formally inaugurated the MD/MS Postgraduate Programme for the academic year 2025–2026 with a Post Graduate Induction Programme that underscored the core values of ethical practice, empathy in patient care, and academic excellence.

Addressing the newly admitted postgraduate students, Dr. Nitin Nagrkar, Pro Vice Chancellor, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, SRMIST, emphasised that medicine is defined not by titles, but by responsibility and integrity. “Medicine is not defined by degrees or designations, but by the responsibility, integrity, and compassion with which you serve every patient and the communities that place their trust in you,” he said.

The programme was conducted under the visionary leadership of Dr. T. R. Parivendhar, Founder Chancellor, and Dr. P. Sathyanarayan, Pro-Chancellor (Academics), reaffirming the institution’s commitment to excellence in medical education, patient care, and community service. The induction marked the official welcome of the MD/MS 2025–26 batch into SRM’s postgraduate academic ecosystem.

Dr. Nitin Nagrkar highlighted that postgraduate medical education extends far beyond academic achievement. He spoke about the importance of compassion, ethical decision-making, and lifelong learning in shaping credible and humane clinicians. Encouraging students to see their training as a social responsibility, he reiterated SRM’s vision of nurturing doctors who combine strong clinical competence with empathy and integrity. He also noted that the strong response to the programme reflected the growing trust in SRM’s medical education and healthcare system.

Dr. T. Mythili, Additional Registrar, addressed the gathering and remarked, “SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre is where postgraduate learning transforms into clinical judgment, and where responsibility, mentorship, and patient care together shape doctors whom society can truly trust.” She encouraged students to actively engage with academics, clinical exposure, and mentorship opportunities, while maintaining discipline, dedication, and respect for patients throughout their training.

Dr. Mythili further reassured the students of the institution’s unwavering support, stating that SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre remains committed to providing high-quality clinical training, a strong ethical foundation, and meaningful opportunities for research and innovation.

Highlighting the academic framework for postgraduate students, Dr. J. S. Kumar, Associate Dean, PG Academics (MHS), SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, outlined the institution’s commitments to its MD/MS trainees. “At SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, we make three promises to our postgraduate doctors: a strong commitment to patient care, continuous support for learning and research, and the assurance that they will never walk this demanding journey alone,” he said.

Speaking on the hospital’s clinical strength, Dr. R. Venkatraman, Medical Superintendent, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, emphasised the breadth of exposure available to postgraduate doctors. He noted that students would be trained not only as skilled clinicians but also as capable clinical administrators, gaining extensive hands-on experience at the institution’s 1,600-bed hospital with a wide range of medical cases.

The Post Graduate Induction Programme marked the formal beginning of the academic journey for the MD/MS 2025–2026 batch, setting a clear tone of learning, service, ethical practice, and professional growth at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre.
