SRM Medical College Observes National Eye Donation Fortnight 2024

SRM Medical College & Hospital organized the National Eye Donation Fortnight 2024 from 25th August to 8th September 2024 and conducted several programs and competitions focused on awareness of the role of Eye donation.

The inauguration of the society was done with lots of energy and fanfare in the presence of Dr. Nitin M Nagarkar, Dean (Medical), SRMMCHRC and Prof. Dr. B. Radhakrishnan, HOD Ophthalmology, SRMMCHRC, who emphasized how important the cause of eye donation is towards changing the lives of people. The event was delivered with much passion and energy that promoted the togetherness of the community through the activities of the fortnight.

Highlights of the Event:

➔ Drawing Competition: Every participant illustrated something encouraging and related to the theme of eye donation, which was powerful in drawings.
➔ Slogan Competition: An awareness message in the form of slogans was created and developed by participants in a creative way toward eye donation.
➔ Rangoli Competition: Innovative and colorful rangolis were crafted centered on the theme in mind, and people were made on the creation of eye donation awareness.
➔ The first 3 places of every competition have been awarded at the end of the event.
➔ Rally was conducted in collaboration with Lion’s Club for Eye Donation Awareness on 6th September 2024.

In this event, the department offered banners, T-shirts, flyers, and brochures, and went around the public raising awareness about eye donation. The rally proved to be very effective in increasing awareness among the people in the community and making more and more people think about eye donation.

The effective participation by the students, and faculties made the National Eye Donation Fortnight 2024 event successful and meaningful. This fortnight has been really beneficial in creating awareness and supporting the cause of eye donation, and many support this noble cause.
