SRMIST Celebrates Alumni Day 2025, Honouring a Legacy Built by Generations of Graduates

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) celebrated Alumni Day 2025 on December 20, bringing together over 1300 alumni from across disciplines and campuses. The gathering highlighted the enduring bond between the university and its graduates, and the role alumni continue to play in shaping SRMIST’s journey across the world.

Addressing the alumni, Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor, SRMIST, reflected on the collective spirit behind the institution’s growth. “SRM did not grow because of one person. It grew because every alumni who passed through this campus carried it forward,” he said, underscoring how decades of graduates have contributed to SRM’s evolution since its first batch in 1989.

Reinforcing this shared responsibility, Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST, called on alumni to remain actively engaged with their alma mater. He encouraged graduates to mentor students, contribute to the teaching and learning ecosystem, and support emerging entrepreneurs through the university’s DEI initiatives, which have already helped over 50 start-ups thrive. Alumni were also urged to collaborate with the university’s Career Centre to guide and empower future graduates.

The celebration featured heartfelt reflections from alumni who spoke about SRM’s impact on their personal and professional journeys. Mr. Selvaraj Srinivasan from the 1991 batch shared, “From a rural classroom to global platforms, SRM laid the foundation for every dream I dared to pursue.” Ms. Vino Supraja, an alumna from the 2001 batch and the first architect from Vandavasi, reflected, “This campus did not just educate me; it embraced my vulnerability and transformed me into a confident woman.”

A key highlight of Alumni Day 2025 was the Alumni Awards Ceremony, which recognised outstanding graduates under three categories: Distinguished Alumni, Eminent Alumni, and Young Achievers. The awardees were honoured for their excellence and leadership across industry, academia, entrepreneurship, and social service, and shared memories of their formative years at SRMIST.

Alumni Day 2025 reaffirmed SRMIST’s commitment to lifelong engagement with its graduates, celebrating achievements across generations and strengthening the bonds that continue to shape the university’s legacy through its global alumni community.
