SRMMCH&RC celebrated the National Newborn Week 2023

SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Department of Paediatrics celebrated National Newborn Week 2023 from the 15th to the 21st of November 2023 with the theme, “Nurturing Newborn Lives Through Community Facility Engagement,” focusing on the well-being of little ones from conception to 2 years.

Pro Vice-Chancellor (MHS) Dr. Lt. Col A. Ravikumar, Dean (Medical) Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, and other esteemed guests inaugurated the event. A guest lecture was given by Dr. R. Saileela, who shared insights and engaged in in-depth discussions on neonatal topics, benefiting over 180 participants.

A Sensitization Session was conducted, imparting knowledge on neonatal resuscitation to interns. Additionally, a nursing skit was presented to educate relatives on routine newborn care in the postnatal ward. Dr. Shrinidhi K continued the Q&A Session addressing queries from postnatal mothers regarding common neonatal issues. An Expert Talk on the “Role of Genetics in Neonatology” by Dr. Abiramalatha T was conducted through an insightful online session, benefiting 25 delegates.

The week concluded with a Basic Neonatal Resuscitation Program on the 21st of November, emphasizing the importance of the first golden minute for newborns.
