Workshop Recap: RESUS at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre
SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre affiliated to SRM University located in Kattankulathur conducted an intensive CPR and resuscitation awareness program held on 27th July 2024. This successful event covered multiple aspects of the healthcare needs of the population and involved various healthcare specialists to continue their professional development and to enhance their understanding of severe emergency care.
The focused topic of the workshop was presented in the form of a day-long session covering foundational and advanced areas of emergency resuscitation, Key sessions included:

âž” Improving Chest Compression Fraction (CCF) in CPR
âž” Cot vs. ER Trolley
âž” Pericardiac Arrest
Participants engaged in hands-on training at various stations designed to simulate real-life emergency situations
âž” Shock to Restart Life: A basic practical on how to use a defibrillator to revert the abnormality of the heartbeat.
➔ Syncing the Rhythm: Methods for providing coordinated chest compression with various mechanical devices to optimize the patient’s result.
âž” Ultrasound in Cardiac Arrest: The use of ultrasound during the provision of cardiopulmonary resuscitation interventions and evaluation of the cardiac status during emergent situations.
âž” Trauma – The Art of Resuscitation: Handling of traumatology cases specifically about new techniques of resuscitation as well as new guidelines.
The last part of the selected workshop was dedicated to post-cardiac arrest provided with additional courses like TTM and advanced procedures like ICD & Pigtail Insertion, ED-Thoracotomy, and Surgical Airway Management. Such discussions highlighted the topic of future learning and changes in the rapidly developing sphere of emergency medicine.
The event explained the fact that SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre is one of those institutions that aims to revolutionize the sphere of emergency medical care providing healthcare specialists with up-to-date knowledge, and offering practical experience in managing emergent cases, the role of the workshop was to improve the patient’s conditions and save lives in emergence situations.
