World Anesthesia Day Celebration at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre
SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (SRMMCHRC) marked the occasion of World Anesthesia Day with a special focus on this year’s theme ‘Workforce Well-being’ on October 23, 2024. The celebration included a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session, organized by the Department of Anesthesiology, with a series of enlightening talks, interactive sessions, and engaging activities designed to promote the well-being of healthcare professionals.
The event saw the esteemed presence of several dignitaries, including:
– Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, Pro Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) & Dean (Medical) of SRMMCHRC, emphasized the importance of workforce health and well-being in the healthcare sector.
– Dr. Venkatraman, Medical Superintendent of SRMMCHRC, highlighted the hospital’s commitment to the continuous development and welfare of its medical staff.
– Dr. Gayathri B, Professor & Head of the Department of Anesthesia, SRMMCHRC, spoke about the significance of mental health and work-life balance in anesthesia professionals’ daily lives.
The highlight of the day was a special guest lecture by Dr. Ramanan Rajagopal, a renowned neuroanesthetist, who captivated the audience with his talk on balancing health post-cardiac recovery. His personal insights and professional experience inspired attendees to consider their health and recovery in high-stress environments.
The event also featured a session by Shree Pushpamma Chandy, a psychologist, who guided the participants through meditation and shared her journey on mental wellness. She emphasized the importance of mental well-being for healthcare professionals and provided valuable tools for managing stress and maintaining a positive mindset.
To further promote teamwork and collaboration, Dr. Pushparani led a series of sports and team-building activities, allowing participants to unwind, bond, and have fun together. These activities were a hit, fostering a sense of unity among the attendees.
