SRMMCH&RC conducted SRM OGCON 2023
SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology conducted a National Conference on the subject of “CAESAREAN SECTION” took place on December 2nd and 3rd, 2023, in collaboration with the Kancheepuram Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society (KOGS).
A pre-conference workshop, conducted in partnership with the Indian Fertility Society (IFS), was also held on December 1st, 2023, focusing on the “Essentials of Infertility.”
As part of the national conference, paper and poster competitions were organized for postgraduates, drawing active participation from more than 50 individuals.
The conference aimed to address the rising prevalence of caesarean sections, often referred to as an “epidemic” among pregnant women worldwide. Modern surgical advancements have minimized risks to both mother and child, making it essential to enhance awareness of the procedure’s significance in reducing maternal mortality and morbidity.
The conference commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Nitin M Agarkar, Dean (Medical) in the distinguished presence of Dr. Leela, Associate Dean; Dr. Chakravorthy, President of KOGS, and Dr. Umayal Murugesan, KOGS Secretary. Individual prizes were awarded during the inaugural function.
Scientific sessions unfolded featuring leading specialists from prestigious medical institutes across India. Debates and panel discussions addressing challenges in the practice of caesarean sections in obstetrics provided a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, involving obstetrics, anesthesia, and neonatology. The conference attracted over 200 delegates and was facilitated by 49 eminent faculties, including five from outside Tamil Nadu.
At the valedictory function, numerous faculties and delegates offered positive feedback on the well-organized and informative conference, underscoring its contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
