An interactive alumni session organized by the Department of Ophthalmology

The Alumni Interactive Session held in the Department of Ophthalmology, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre on 9th September 2024 intended to connect the alumni and students. This activity took place in the Ophthalmology Demo Room and enabled participants to share their occupational experiences and career information.

Highlights of the Eyefontnight

➔ The first presentation was delivered by Prof. Dr. B. Radhakrishnan, HOD – Ophthalmology, who focused on the objectives of the session,
➔ Two keynote addresses followed by,
➔ Dr. Aadithreya Varman M. S (2018-2021 batch), Director of Uma Eye Clinic, Chennai, in order to get insights from his professional experience, gave some valuable tips on his career experience.
➔ Dr. K. Rakesh M. S (2019-2022 batch) at Sindu Eye & General Hospital, Tambaram gave detailed information on the changing dimensions of the treatment.

Dr. Praveen J, Dr. Maduraa Devandan, Dr. Lavanya G, Dr. Maria Pramod, Dr. Deeksheka, Dr. Arjun, Dr. Bhavya, Dr. Pranotti, and Dr. Sushritha engaged more actively with the alumni in a question-and-answer session discussing on career development and clinical service.

➔ Dr. Aishwarya T, Assistant Professor, Ophthalmology, SRMMCHRC
➔ Dr Thanuja Posa, Senior Resident, SRMMCHRC actively participated in the discussions.

The last part of the event conducted alumni stories and talks focused on comments from alumni, achievements, and pointing at the most important information on the further alumni meetings. From the forum, participants benefited through meetings, and shared ideas with colleagues, and also offered suggestions for enhancing subsequent meetings, like incorporating more ‘practical’ innovations from participants.

SRMMCHRC therefore expressed deep appreciation to all alumni, postgraduates, and all the members of the faculty for their support, which made the event a success.
