SRM Medical College Hosts UHV II Program for II MBBS Students

SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre successfully conducted the Universal Human Values II (UHV II) program for II MBBS students from 8–10 October 2025. The program, part of the foundation course, aimed to deepen students’ understanding of human values and their application in personal and professional life.

The three-day program saw the participation of 250 II MBBS students and was coordinated by Dr. V. Sathyanarayanan, Associate Dean (Student Affairs) and UHV Coordinator, SRM IST, along with faculty facilitators,

~ Dr. G. Mirunalini — Associate Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology
~ Dr. S. Muthu Bharathi — Senior Resident, Department of Dermatology
~ Mrs. J. Praveena — Associate Professor, Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology

The UHV II curriculum focused on self-exploration, harmony, ethical conduct, and holistic development. The modules included:

â—Ź Introduction to Value Education: Addressed the need for value education, self-exploration, and holistic well-being.

â—Ź Harmony in the Human Being: Explored the relationship between mind and body, self-regulation, and maintaining health.

â—Ź Harmony in the Family and Society: Emphasised trust, respect, and justice as essential for nurturing relationships and sustaining social harmony.

â—Ź Harmony in Nature and Existence: Highlighted interdependence in nature, mutual fulfilment, and the universal human order.

â—Ź Professional Ethics: Integrated ethical principles into medical practice, linking value-based decision-making with integrity and service orientation.

The program included interactive lectures, discussions, and sharing sessions that encouraged students to relate human values to real-life situations. Participants reported an increased sense of self-awareness, empathy, and ethical responsibility, key qualities for their future roles as compassionate doctors.

The UHV II initiative at SRM Medical College reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to nurturing value-based medical professionals capable of practicing medicine with responsibility, empathy, and harmony in all spheres of life.
