SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre Unveils ‘SRM Blood Connect’: A Digital Leap Forward in Voluntary Blood Donation Management
In a significant step towards strengthening voluntary blood donation through technology, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre launched SRM Blood Connect, a comprehensive digital Blood Donation Camp Management System, as part of the World Blood Donor Day 2026 celebrations themed “Normalizing Voluntary Blood Donation.”
Developed through a multidisciplinary collaboration between the Department of Computational Intelligence, School of Computing, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, and the Department of Transfusion Medicine & Blood Centre, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, the platform represents the convergence of healthcare expertise and advanced computing technologies.
SRM Blood Connect has been designed to digitize and streamline the complete blood donation management process. The platform enables donor registration, eligibility screening, camp scheduling, donor communication, medical examination documentation, and centralized record management, creating a seamless and efficient ecosystem for blood donation camps.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. R. Jayanthi, Dean (Medical), SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary innovation, stating:
“SRM Blood Connect reflects the strength of interdisciplinary collaboration at SRM, bringing together healthcare and technology to create meaningful impact and advance innovation in patient care.”
Emphasizing the platform’s practical benefits, Dr. S. Kingsley, Professor and Head, Department of Transfusion Medicine & Blood Centre, said:
“SRM Blood Connect will enhance donor engagement, improve coordination, and streamline blood donation camp management, strengthening our efforts to promote voluntary blood donation.”
The initiative showcases how academic collaboration can address real-world healthcare challenges through technology-driven solutions. The platform was developed under the academic guidance of Dr. M. Ferni Ukrit, Professor and Program Coordinator (AI), and Dr. R. Vinston Raja, Assistant Professor, Department of Computational Intelligence, along with Mr. Akash R, a B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) student.
By enhancing donor engagement, improving operational efficiency, strengthening data management, and supporting the effective organization of blood donation camps, SRM Blood Connect is expected to play a pivotal role in promoting voluntary blood donation and ensuring a more organized and responsive blood donation ecosystem.
The launch of SRM Blood Connect reaffirms SRM’s commitment to advancing healthcare through technology-driven innovation, creating impactful solutions that benefit healthcare providers, donors, and the wider community.
