About Us

  • The Department of Emergency Medicine at SRM Medical College was established in the year 2015 and it is one of the few, well equipped, Infrastructed, busiest Emergency Department in Chennai, It is a LEVEL 1 trauma center and provides level 1 Emergency Services, located in NH 45 and covers both rural and urban population.
  • Our Department provides the most advanced and personalized emergency medical care to almost 50,000 patients annually.
  • The department provides comprehensive 24*7 medical and surgical care to all victims of acute illness, Our Department is equipped with trained and qualified Emergency Physicians and paramedical and nursing staff to handle all kinds of emergencies.
  • Together as a team, our department works with the motto “Emergencies don’t wait either should you”
  • PG Eligibility : Pass In MBBS or its Equivalent Degree recognized by NMC (Canditates completing the CRRI / CRMI on or before 31st March of the Year) NEET PG score as prescribed by NMC.

  • Competency Based Medical Education for MBBS students.
  • Small group tutorials for teaching knowledge domain and bedside clinical classes for clinical skills teaching.
  • Electives, Early clinical exposure, Clerkship model of clinical postings, Integrated and problem oriented teaching, case based learning, self-directed learning, simulation based learning are some of the novel approaches of teachings we are adopting.

  • Implementation of newer teaching methods like Problem-based Learning(PBLs) and flipped classroom methods for UG and PG teaching
  • Competency-based learning – Our lecture classes and clinical postings for undergraduates have now been scheduled based on the competency-based curriculum
  • Skill training for medical and non-medical students and faculty in imparting BLS/ACLS /CCLS/trauma support training with advanced airway, central line, and nerve block mannikins available both in the department and simulation lab.
