Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre
In celebration of World Osteoarthritis Day and World Osteoporosis Day, the Department of Orthopaedics at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (SRMMCHRC) organized a successful Continuing Medical Education (CME) program aimed at enhancing knowledge and promoting awareness of these critical musculoskeletal conditions.
The CME session featured two distinguished experts in the field:
– Dr. Saranya, Professor of Rheumatology from Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the “Recent Trends in the Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis.” Her insights into the latest developments in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis provided valuable information to attendees, highlighting the importance of early intervention and personalized care.
– Dr. Sriram Mahadevan, Professor and Head of the Department of Endocrinology at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), shared his expertise on “Current Concepts in Managing Osteoporosis.” His session focused on the latest treatment strategies and the significance of early diagnosis in preventing fractures and other complications associated with osteoporosis.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from a wide range of attendees, including 120 undergraduate students, 30 postgraduate students, and 20 faculty members. Their active engagement during the sessions underscored the importance of continuous medical education in staying up-to-date with evolving healthcare practices.
The CME program was further enhanced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Nitin M Nagarkar, Pro Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) & Dean (Medical) of SRMMCHRC, and Dr. R. Venkatraman, Medical Superintendent of SRMMCHRC, whose presence added significant value to the occasion.
This CME session proved to be an enriching experience for all participants, fostering deeper insights into the management of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis, two conditions of critical importance in today’s healthcare landscape.
