SRM M.Optom Student Wins Best Paper Award at IMARC 2025

M.Optom II Year student Sanjukta Jana made a strong mark at The Indian Myopia Awareness and Research Conference (IMARC) held at LVPEI, Hyderabad. She presented an oral paper based on her dissertation work titled Comparison of objective and subjective measurement of indoor and outdoor time spent in young adults. The study looks at how lifestyle patterns are measured and why accurate assessment matters in understanding myopia trends among young adults.

Her research was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Dharani R, Professor of Optometry, whose mentorship shaped the direction and depth of the project. Sanjukta’s presentation stood out for its clarity, relevance and scientific approach, earning her the Best Paper award at the conference. She received the recognition from Prof. David Atchison of Queensland University of Technology.

The achievement reflects the growing research culture within the department and the commitment of students and faculty to contribute meaningful work to the field of eye health.
