SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre Celebrated Mother and Child Day
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (SRM MCH&RC) Kattankulathur recently celebrated Mother and Child Day. The event marked the success of the TmT Valliammai Women and Child Welfare scheme. This scheme was launched in 2014. Its purpose was to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. The scheme focuses on promoting institutional deliveries and covering pregnancy-related expenses.
Initially, the scheme offered a monetary benefit of Rs. 10,000 to mothers delivering at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre. However, effective May 1, 2024, this cash assistance has been increased to Rs. 20000.
Ms. Manimangai Satyanarayanan, Managing Director of SRM Global Hospitals addressed the gathering. She encouraged mothers to spread the benefits of the Valliammai scheme throughout the community. During the event, Ms. Manimangai distributed an increased monetary benefit of Rs. 20000 to each of the approximately 200 attending mothers along with their neonatal babies. This ongoing welfare measure aims to support expecting mothers. This measure assists them through various stages of pregnancy.
